Sunny State of Mind

About Me

My name is Kimberly and I am from Central Illinois. I am an Aircraft Mechanic in the Air National Guard in Peoria. I am currently a full-time technician, however, I recently applied to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville to finish school. I am so pumped to go back to school full-time and earn my Bachelor Degree. I currently have an Associate Degree in Art & Science from Illinois Central College and am working toward a Bachelor Degree in Business Management with a focus in Human Resources.

I recently got engaged to a wonderful guy. His name is Jason and he is in the Air Force as well. He is from Wisconsin (hence, UWP) and we met at the base in Peoria. We bought a house in Platteville in September 2009 and we will FINALLY get to move in this summer!! WOOOO!!! We have not been able to move in because I am still full-time at the base and he is on orders. We delpoy to Afghanistan in April and have a return date of beginning of July 2010. When we get back from our deployment I will be quitting my full-time job at the base- EEEKKK! That is a HUGE step. Jason is so supportive of my decision to go back to school!! He is making my transition from Illinois to Wisconsin (CHEESEHEAD!) and from working girl to school girl SOOO much EASIER! ๐Ÿ™‚ He is the bestest fiance’ in the world! Jason and I also have a goofball kitten named Twix.

I have had some back issues over the past few years due to the physical demands of my job. My most recent injury involved 2 slipped discs that pinched a nerve (Ouch!). I had to have physical therapy, steroid shots, and NO maintenance on aircraft for almost 9 months! I was only able to stretch and do physical therapy exercises, NO cardio or weights, bending, twisting, etc. Now, my back pain is minimal and I am able to exercise regularly. I am now more involved with my exercises and listening to my body. I am trying to be healthier and exercise frequently. I have become very involved in running and I intend to squeeze in a few races this spring/summer when I am not delpoyed. Since getting back in the groove of working out after my back injury and eating healthier, I have lost a total of 13 LBS! My goal is not necessarily to lose pounds, but to just BE healthier all around and take care of my body. Losing the pounds is just a BONUS and it makes me feel good! ๐Ÿ™‚ I still have fun and enjoy my favorite not-so-healthy foods and cocktails. A girl’s gotta have her chocolate, occasional fatass food, and boxed wine with her fave classy girlfriends! ๐Ÿ™‚

My blog is full of randomness. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope you will follow me on my journey back to school, traveling with the military, getting married, becoming a cheesehead, getting healthy, and all the random events along the way!
